Spinning Tuition and Workshops

Workshops for beginners cover all the essential processes of spinning, starting with raw fleece and ending with a length of two-ply spun wool for use on a simple craft project:

  • Sheep’s wool - understanding its character and selecting fleece for spinning
  • Preparing the wool for spinning - teasing and carding
  • Spinning basics: drafting and spinning with a hand-operated drop-spindle
  • Making progress: working with a foot-powered spinning wheel

Suitable for all ages from eight to eighty and beyond, for individuals or groups up to four.

For those who are already familar with the basics, workshops can be tailored to refresh or progress your skills according to your own preferences. Please feel free to call and discuss.

All you need to bring is yourselves. Refreshments at ‘half-time’ are included,

Please phone first to agree a date and time.
